Reporter and Social Media Editor:
Successfully brought attention to one of high school basketball’s premier programs, Huntington Prep of Huntington, WV. Brought in over 500 viewers per post on my personal website, marshallbolger.com and marsreel.co. For MarsReel, I recapped games with in-depth analysis that matches the video accompanied to it. Many have said that they felt like they experienced the entire game without laying yes on it. The Huntington Prep Instagram account now has over 800 followers with 50+ being professional or collegiate athletes because of quality pictures, unorthodox interviews for personal interests and other pictures that capture the life of a future collegiate basketball player. The BleacherReport and nbadraft.net have linked my work in their articles.

In order to maximize your learning experience and strengthen personal skills, a willingness to be versatile is required. During my time with Marshall University’s Sports Information Center, I’ve used InDesign to help create programs for basketball games and used Photoshop to create flyers for baseball games. I’ve also recapped track events, basketball games and softball as well, while writing press releases for swimming events. I currently transcribe football press conferences.

Here at the Parthenon, I became the first reporter since Chad Pennington to cover Marshall’s Rugby team, and attendance and notoriety slightly increased because of my coverage. I also wrote stories about every sport Marshall University offers except for tennis. I’ve had over 40 articles published.
